I got a call today from somebody publicising a government initiative to get people playing sports during the Olympics. Presumably there will be some prominent advertising at Olympic events to get people to visit a website and find sports local to them.
You can list an event for your club, even if it's only a training session. It needs to be between Mon 13 and Tues 28 August though. The main push is for 18/19 August.

If you're bored, you could e-mail hello@joininuk.org and ask them to add korfball to the list of sports. There is an "other" option, but that doesn't seem great.

I got a response as follows...
quote:I just wanted to clarify that if you select 'Other' and enter Korfball, then Korfball will be displayed on your event page on the website. You can do this at sign-up (when you create your first event) or by logging in later and editing your event(s).
For usability purposes, we have had to limit the number of sports displayed in the 'Add Sport' drop-down on the website. However to address your concern about visibility, we are currently working on functionality to enable participants to search by location as this is very much a locally-focused initiative so your local community will be able to find you.
Don't forget that by adding an event to the Join In website you will also benefit from the publicity - both online and offline - surrounding Join In. And we're excited to several Korfball events already registered!
The "Join In" website is linked from the London 2012 homepage and features in their e-mails (sent to people who applied for tickets I assume). It looks like that will be the extent of their promotion of it.
